Turtle Lake Myth

The myth about Turtle Lake is crazy.  I don't believe its true.  Do you?

Junior Going to Reardan

In going to Reardan, Junior is helping himself and his future.  I think it will inspire other Indians to do the same.  Do you think other Indians on the reservation will follow in Junior's footsteps?

What is the Deal With Ted?

I wonder why Ted, the rich guy, thought that the powwow dress he had was grandmother spirit's?  Does anyone have any ideas?

Similarities of Sherman Alexie and Arnold

In the book there are many similarities between Arnold and Sherman Alexie.  This makes the book a semi-autobiography.  They both grew up on the Spokane Indian Reservation in Wellpinit.  They were both born with hydrocephalus or "water on the brain."  Also, they both left the reserervation to o to Reardan High School.  The book shows some of Alexie's views on life.  Alexie wrote that Arnold will never drink because Alexie regrets having an alcohol problem.

The Book's Speed

I felt the book had a really fast pace.  This made me keep on reading until I had to stop.

Drunks

Its really a shame that so many of the Indians are drunks.  They try to drink there problems away but it doesn't work.  I hope that Junior never drinks.

If Rowdy Had Decided To Go To Reardan

I asked myself,"What would have happened if Rowdy had decided to go to Reardan?"  I think that then people wouldn't have picked on Junior in the beginning as much because Rowdy would have intimidated the white kids.  Ir the aforementioned thing happened, then Junior would not have punched Roger.  Then, Roger wouldn't respect Junior.  Everyone would have ignored Junior.  I guess it is kind of good that Rowdy didn't come to Reardan.  What do you think?

Cartoons

The cartoons in the book are really cool.  A lot of them are also very funny.  Ellen Forney drew the cartoons.  You can see some at the bottom of this page.
